Branden died on a Saturday. He'd been having headaches for some months, gone to the doctor several times, but couldn't figure out what was wrong. He was really stressed with work and going to the gym a lot, so we thought it was a combination of the two. He was working in Cincinnati and I flew in on a Thursday to help him. By Saturday morning, he was in the hospital, "with little to no brain activity," as his neurosurgeon finally let me know at the tail end of the night.
Unbeknownst to him and I, he had a brain tumor called glioblastoma, which is very aggressive, grows very rapidly, and has no cure. Even with the best of outcomes, he only would've had a year to live, max, with a terrible quality of life. That's the last thing he would've wanted to experience. He was an organ donor and is going to save many lives and give boundless joy to many families. If you would like to honor him, please register as a donor at https://www.organdonor.gov/sign-up
In Love,
Loreta Costa
